The Heavy
Listening to "How You Like Me Now?" by The Heavy on my iPhone KCRW Eclectic24 Music Channel. Other internet radio stations app I have are: SomaFM, RadioParadise, Last.FM and KCRW. No, I don't want Pandora.
Ran The Jonquil City Jog 5K this morning in the light rain. Afterwards while waiting for the traffic to clear I decided to drive over to the SilverComet and do another 3 miles. Slow is better this time, it felt great to run easy at a 10:00 pace instead of pushing hard trying for a 7:00 mile earlier. Also had on my MP3 player and Wrek-FM radio playing, that might have had something to do with it. So, total today: 6.6 miles, 60 minutes, 60 degrees rainy weather. It has been warm and sunny all week long and now the weekend is here and it's currently about 62 degrees and still raining. The Jonquil Festival is washed out.
* Manu Ginobili is simply the most complete NBA player that I have ever seen, and I've been playing and watching basketball for over 32 years. There is a reason why he was the MVP of the last Olympics games when he led Argentina to their gold medal and he is still way under rated in the NBA. All you hear about are the Kobe, the Lebron, the Wade, all are great athletes, but not a complete team player and not as reckless and fearless like Ginobili.

The books are never about what you think they are about. Survivor is really about our education system because I feel, more often than not, kids are sort of taught or trained to be the best possible cogs in some big corporate machine. They’re not really taught in an empowered way that they can start their own company so that they can create and run their own lives. They are sort of taught to be just good employees, to just fit in.

Educamation or somethin' like that
- Smart Board is an oxymoron and I don't mean those Promethean Boards.
- It's a miracle that I haven't slapped silly some of these obnoxious fifth graders in my 9 years of teaching. Do they have facebook in prison?
- Fact: This Cobb county puts the Con in Conservative.
- Spoiler Alert: I believe Donald Trump just gave away the result of the winner of this season's "Celebrity Apprentice" by commenting on Bret Michaels and his latest bout with brain hemorraging: "He's a great competitor and champion and I hope he will be fine," Trump told celebrity TV news show Entertainment Tonight.
- Bill Maher is still the man. Will post his latest New Rules later, of course it's right on and about the ridiculous defense budget and war spending that's responsible for our budget deficits and other problems.
- If it's not fun-change it and make it so!

Saturday morning run
"3 MCs and 1 DJ, We be gettin' down with no Delay. Wicky, wicky, wicky, Wick"
Beastie Boys on my MP3 today.
Ran this morning at 8:30. Three and a half marvelous miles on this trail parallel to the sidewalk by my house. This is my highest weekly total: 21 miles. My long run was 6 miles on Wednesday. It was a sunny and pleasant morning, 56 degrees, just about perfect weather- a few degrees cooler would be ideal. Traffic was not too bad yet. Ran by Rev Coffee and saw they were setting up for the Rev Fest later on today.
This weekend these events are taking place around the metro ATL area: Freaknik, Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Robotics Championship at the GA Dome, SweetWater 420 Festival, Renaissance Festival, Hawks playoff game, Braves home game, Bon Jovi concert, a dozen proms downtown and RevFest '10. It will be one giant parking lot in a few hours.

Prison Bound on my mind
* Tiger Woods and Kate Gosselin were made for each other. They should hook up.
* One more reason why I hate golf:
It takes 2 billion gallons of water a day to irrigate all the golf courses in America.
* Social Distortion's "Prison Bound" is on my mind today. Details later.

Georgia Council for the Arts facing elimination
Georgia Council for the Arts facing elimination

This is embarrassing. Georgia will be the only state in the country without an arts council.
I was in the theater show business for 13 years including 6 in this state until 2000 when I went back to school to get certified to teach. What am I teaching now? Art!
Of course music and art teachers will be the first ones to get axed when they cut the budget. They already cut the elementary music teaching positions in Fulton County. Isn't interesting that we can find money for 2 wars in foreign countries but can't afford to pay our school teachers. I didn't hear many people complain about the military spending all these years. Bet you didn't know that 53 cents of every dollar you pay in tax go to the Defense Budget, that's right, 53% of our taxes are spent on the military. Be all you can be.
Maybe I should look into becoming a professional poker player.

Makin' It Work
- Embrace whatever life throws at you.
- Don't make it MORE than what it is.
- Use that sense of humor, and lose the attitude.
- Be clear, be concise, and then listen actively.
- Do your own job & keep yo' mouth shut while you're doing it.
- Whatever happened to Feng Shui?
- Saw a fourth grader reading "Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul 2" at school.
- I'm gonna check out Cormac McCarthy's "Blood Meridian" and Barbara Strauch's "The Secret Life of the Grown-Up Brain" at the Smyrna library this week. Currently I'm reading "Generation A" by Douglas Coupland and Ha Jin's "A Good Fall".
- Daydream Default Mode is the official technical term for my current state of being (as heard on NPR's Fresh Air with Terry Gross).
- These events are taking place this Saturday in downtown Atlanta: Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park, FIRST Championships (Robotics Olympics) at the Georgia Dome, Braves baseball game at Turner Field, Hawks playoff basketball and Freaknik.
- I'm avoiding all the traffic downtown and go to Rev Coffee for RevFest '10.
- Long run today of 6 miles in 80 degree weather on the Silver Comet Trail. Along the way I smelled wisteria, BBQ grills, water in a creek, smoke from a fire, pungent perfume, freshly mowed grass, and automobile exhaust when the trail intersects the roads.
- My MP3 player has mostly Putumayo World Music among others, but for some reason when I put it on random play, Beck, Radiohead, Depeche Mode and Beastie Boys songs get played more frequently than anything else? Especially Beck.

The BUTLER did it!
Now that West Virginia is done, I'm rooting for the Butler Bulldogs, the obvious underdog and much classier team than that over-rated classless Duke Blue Devils ACC powerhouse.
Butler did it yesterday, and Butler will do it again tomorrow night. My prediction for the final score tomorrow night's NCAA Championship game: Butler 56- Duke 51.

Everyone's a Comedian
By the way, the new streak began last Wednesday, March 24. I had one day off with the stomach flu last Tuesday. Now I'm on day #12 of running at least 2 miles a day.
Two miles today at the Marietta Civic Center track, 73 degrees this morning at 11 AM. This is going to be one HOT summer in Georgia.
